What Is Cuffing Season? Why It’s Actually the Best Time to Be Single
Cuffing season. Not everyone has heard of it, but the phrase is becoming more and more popular. Cuffing season is where people who are normally not in serious relationships start “cuffing” with someone during the winter season. Normally, people want to stay single and enjoy their freedom for the hot summer time, but scientists say it’s the cold weather and holidays that bring people together. Well, here are six reasons to fight the urge and stay single during cuffing season.
1. You won’t have to buy a holiday gift for a significant other
Holiday shopping is hard enough as it is. There are so many people you have to buy gifts for. With no significant other, the pressure is less extreme, and you can spend that money on treating yo’self and your family!
2. You won’t have to sacrifice any of your holiday time
Going to spend time with your significant other’s family is probably more nerve-wracking than enjoyable (unless you’ve been dating a thousand years, in which case you probably don’t need to read this article anyway).
3. You can do whatever you want at all the holiday parties
You don’t have to worry about making the holiday party rounds and introducing your new S.O. to all of your friends – or maybe you don’t want to go to any holiday parties, period! Well, good news: you don’t have to be dragged to any by your boyfriend or girlfriend. You do you this holiday season.
4. You don’t have to worry about hiding those extra holiday pounds
Enjoy those few months of big sweater time! Thanksgiving dinner never sounded so yummy.
5. OR you can use your extra time to focus on working out and staying in shape all winter!
When you’re single, there’s more YOU time. Spend those cold mornings in the gym and see your work pay off! While all your friends will be making their New Year’s resolutions to get in shape, you’ll be way ahead of the game.
5. New Year’s Eve is fair game
Why kiss the same person for the 500th time? You’re in college after all! Plus, what’s a better way to start off the new year than focusing on YOU? Some of my best New Year’s Eve memories have been with my group of friends.
6. You can get a seasonal job and make bank
If you’re single and have extra time on your hands, you can get a seasonal position and have the potential to make a lot of money. The malls and shopping centers tend to hire like crazy during this time of year. Commission and tips are usually great perks as well because people are feeling generous around the holidays!
Whatever your relationship status may be during this time of year, just make sure you’re getting into a relationship for the right reason. Don’t just “cuff” onto someone because you’re afraid of being alone.
