7 Signs You’re Ready to Start Dating Again
When you’ve been single for a while, especially after a dramatic break up or heartbreak, it can be difficult getting back out there. You feel insecure, fragile, and like you’ll be let down again. Being young and dating in today’s time is scary. You never know who someone really is, until you do. Then what? Do you hide from the rest of the world forever? Absolutely not! Here are some tips to ensure you’re ready to start dating again.
1. You don’t feel anything when you think of your ex
Nothing is better than feeling free after getting over ex. Those previous days and nights spent crying and getting angry at them are now gone and you won’t have the extra baggage to carry into a new relationship.
2. You feel confident
Now you feel like you’re ready to take the world by storm. This is a great indicator that you’re ready to start dating. You’ve been refreshed and cleansed of all negativity and have a more positive mindset.
3. You’ve stopped looking for attention
Have you ever gone through a heartbreak that left you feeling like you’re not good enough and you need or want validation from everyone to make you feel better? I have too. It’s okay to go through that phase, but try to avoid going to great lengths for that attention. Once you’ve realized you’re your own person and don’t need anyone telling you how beautiful or handsome you are, you will be much better off and ready to give someone else a chance to love the new and improved you.
4. You let guys/girls talk to you
When you’re finally ready to mingle and possibly flirt with someone, you’re ready to start dating again.
5. You stopped stalking his/her social media
We’ve all been guilty of stalking our exes on social media. We want to know what they’re up to, if they’re happy, if they’re seeing someone else. However, this is not healthy behavior after a break up. It makes getting over them a lot harder and it makes the process take longer. Delete them on social media or keep your phone off for a while to focus on something else. When you no longer care to know what your ex has been up to, it’s safe to say you’re over them and can move on with your life.
6. You can talk about your relationship openly
This may not seem like a big deal, but a good indicator that you’re ready to move on is when you can openly talk about your ex without any tears or anger.
7. You’ve truly forgiven them
This is the most important tip if you want to move on and start dating again. If you find someone else to date before you have forgiven your ex, you’re inviting all of your baggage into your new relationship and this can result in another breakup.
Getting back out there isn’t easy. However, you know yourself better than anyone. When you’re ready to start fresh with someone new, you will know deep down that you’re ready. You will feel the changes in you and your outlook. Don’t rush it, just do what you have to make yourself better again, and then get out there and enjoy life!
