Get your popcorn ready because Veterans Day is around the corner, and watching movies that highlight women in the military should be on your list of things to do. Here are five movies with strong female leads that you need to queue up!

 Avatar (2009)

This is a first movie in a series of four. Michelle Rodriguez plays pilot Trudy Chacon, bringing all she’s got in the film’s battle scenes. Rodriguez is well known for her tough-girl roles in Hollywood movies, so this is a must-watch.

The Invisible War (2012)

This is for all the documentary enthusiasts. This documentary highlights the sexual assault many women face within the different branches of the U.S. military. The documentary will remind you that there is still progress to be made. It’s available to watch for free on www.documentarytube.com.

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)

If you enjoy action movies with a touch of romance, you’ll like this one. The movie is an intense film in which British actress Hayley Atwell plays the role of Peggy Carter, fighting alongside Captain America.

Battleship (2012)

This movie is a must-watch for all alien lovers and Rihanna fans. She plays a Petty Officer named Cora Raikes in a battle against aliens. Don’t worry if you aren’t an alien lover or a Rhianna fan! The movie will still suck you in with its action-packed intensity.

Wonder Woman (2017)

Finally, Wonder Woman is a modern cinematic anthem for all the feminists out there. The movie stars Gal Gadot as Diana, an immortal warrior who sets out to end an ongoing world war. Additionally, the film was directed by Patty Jenkins, who is the first female director of a live-action comic book superhero film.
