Scholarships for LGBT Students
You’ve probably realized that many scholarships cater to specific areas of study, or personal or professional affiliation, and being a member or ally of the LGBTQIA+ community is no exception! The following scholarships are aimed at LGBT+ students and their allies. Many of these scholarships are offered annually, so if the deadline has passed, be sure to bookmark this page for next year.
Note: This article provides a basic description for each of the listed scholarships. Please see the scholarship provider’s website for full application and eligibility requirements. This is a list to help you get started. This list does not include all scholarships available for LGBTQIA+ students.
1. Pride Foundation
Description: If you don’t have a lot of time to spend on scholarship applications, this is the scholarship site for you. This is for students in the queer community and their allies who have shown leadership potential and demonstrate significant financial need. Applicants only have to submit one application but will be considered for over 60 scholarships!

2. Point Foundation Scholarship
Description: This scholarship is open to all LGBTQ students who will be enrolled full time at an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in the U.S. in the fall of the award year. Applicants must show a strong leadership and community involvement record as well as high academic achievement. Applicants must also show financial need.
Scholarship Amount: $10,000
3. League Foundation
Description: The League Foundation awards multiple scholarships each year to self-identified LGBTQ+ students attending an accredited vocation school, college or university in the U.S. or Canada. Only one application is needed for consideration for all awards.

4. National Organization of Gay and Lesbian Scientists and Technical Professionals, Inc.
Description The NOGLSTP awards scholarships to active supporters of LGBTQ+ inclusion and visibility with a declared major in STEM or a STEM-related teaching field. Applicants must have successfully completed at least two years of post-high school education at an accredited college or university in the U.S.

5. Live Out Loud
Description Aimed at LGBTQ+ identified youth with financial need, the Live Out Loud Young Trailblazers Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors from the Tri-State area (New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey). Finalists must participate in an individual phone interview.
Scholarship Amount: $10,000
6. Women in Medicine LGBTQ Leadership Scholarship
Description Awards scholarships to female applicants in good standing who are enrolled in their first, second, or third year of allopathic, naturopathic, or osteopathic medical school in the United States or Canada.
Scholarship Amount: $5,000
7. The 49 Fund Scholarship
Description The 49 Fund was established in remembrance of the 49 victims of the Pulse nightclub attack in Orlando, Florida. This fund honors ten deserving LGBT students from Central Florida each year who have “demonstrated a commitment to serving their community, to leadership, and to personal and professional development.”
Scholarship Amount: Ten $4,900 scholarships
