Things to Do When You Wake up With a Hangover
It’s Friday morning. You had fun at the bar with your friends at ladies’ night, but you’re about to have to go to your 9 A.M. class and you can barely think about anything but lying in bed or throwing up. Here are five things you can do to help get rid of that brutal hangover and make it through your day of classes and career fairs.
1. Breakfast
There is a reason Sunday brunch is so popular. It’s because there’s nothing better than eating a pile of pancakes and hash browns to make the leftover alcohol leave your system (…I am not a scientist so don’t quote me on that, but that’s what it feels like).
2. Hydrate or die-drate
Constantly drink water throughout the night at the bar. The key is to drink a good bottle-full before you go to sleep. If you wake up still feeling gross, keep drinking some water and get all that nasty stuff out of your body.
3. Shower
It is such a refreshing feeling to step under some scorching hot water in the shower after you wake up feeling like you were hit by a train. Spend some time taking some deep breaths in the shower steam and wash off last night’s sweat and beer spills.
4. Meds
This may not be the go-to fix for a lot of people, but I am not above taking a few Advil before heading to class to help with the inevitable headache that is going to come along with my hangover.
5. Au Naturel
There are so many home remedies you can look up that claim to cure hangovers fast, but the one I’ve tried and succeeded with is hot water and lemon. It cleanses your liver and your entire system. (It also helps if you scream and sing a lot at the bars like I do and lose your voice.)
