8 Things to Binge Watch Over Thanksgiving Break
Thanksgiving break is coming, and there are several days to sit back, eat some food, and binge watch some Netflix shows. If you’re anything like me, you have a “want to watch” list that’s about 50 shows long. There’s not enough time in the day to watch that many shows, but you’re sick of covering your ears and running out of the room as soon as you hear the name Jon Snow and don’t want it ruined for you. Here’s ten TV shows you should think about binge watching this Thanksgiving break, and where you can watch them:
Netflix
1. Black Mirror
This is just one of my all-time favorite shows, and I highly recommend it if you haven’t seen it. It’s a little creepy at times and can leave you feeling a bit weird, but I am obsessed with it. [Four seasons, 23 episodes, 50min]
2. Queer Eye
If you missed this train (not really sure how), please hop on it, honey! This show is gorgeous and fun and will make you laugh and cry and feel like you have five new best friends. This revamp of the early 2000’s series is the absolute feel-good show of 2018. [Two seasons, 16 episodes, 45 min]
3. Parks and Rec
Okay, I know this one is obvious and most people have already seen this one, but I would just not be me without including it. This is one of my favorite shows of all time. It’s funny and inspiring and makes me feel every feeling I can imagine. Grab that leftover pumpkin pie and cry over Leslie Knope’s hilarious and passionate escapades in the Pawnee Parks Department. [Seven seasons, 125 episodes, 22 min]
4. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
This is another funny one that I just watched a few months ago. It’s so easy to watch, and so funny! Ellie Kemper stars in this sitcom following Kimmy - a young woman who lived her last 15 years in an underground bunker and adjusting to the real world in New York City. [Four seasons, 52 episodes, 30 min]
Hulu
5. Brooklyn Nine-Nine
I don’t know how I missed this show for so long but - oh my goodness - it’s a good one. Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and his gang of fellow NYPD detectives take on crime and comedy in this hilarious sitcom. This show aired on CBS for five seasons and when the network announced they were going to cancel the show, fans rallied hard and NBC came through and picked it up for season six! NOICE! [Five seasons, 112 episodes, 22 min]
6. The Mindy Project
This show is funny and empowering. As a woman going into the healthcare field, I loved this show following Mindy - a female physician in a man’s world. Created by and starring Mindy Kaling, this sitcom is a must-see. Funny, romantic, emotional - hop on board on this one. [Six seasons, 117 episodes, 30 min]
HBO
7. Game of Thrones
The worst part about HBO shows, and GoT in particular, is the length of the episodes. When you get behind, it can be so hard to catch up. Despite the dedication it may take to achieve this task, it’s an incredible show that is well worth the watch. [Seven seasons, 67 episodes, 57 min]
8. Silicon Valley
This is such a good show and I definitely recommend taking the time to watch it. It follows some hysterically socially awkward tech guys who decide to create a startup. Definitely one for the books. [Five seasons, 47 episodes, 28 min]
