1. The Circle by Dave Eggers
I just finished reading this recently, and it was so captivating. I would call it a modern-day 1984, riddled with love interests, drama, and more! It’s such an easy read and perfect for a day out on the shore.
2. The Opposite of Loneliness by Marina Keegan
This is a collection of essays and stories written by Marina Keegan, a young writer who passed away at the age of 22. She graduated from Yale and is a truly magnificent author. This was one of the most inspiring collections I’ve read in a while.
3. Every Last Word by Tamara Ireland Stone
If you like young adult novels, read this book! It’s about a teenage girl named Sam, with severe OCD. She’s a popular girl at her high school, but no one knows what goes on inside her head - until she finds an outlet through writing poetry. I loved this book, and it’s a great, quick read for a day out in the sun!
4. Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn
Wow, wow, wow! I tore through this book. I couldn’t put it down. If you like mystery/crime novels and have read Gone Girl, this other novel of Flynn’s is amazing.
5. The Geography of Bliss: One Grump’s Search for the Happiest Places in the World by Eric Weiner
This is a fabulous memoir/travel/nonfiction piece that will leave you feeling good when finished. The novel follows Weiner as he travels to various places around the world learning the meaning of true happiness. Warning: You might want to travel the world when finished, so get that passport paperwork in now!
