Posted in Uncategorized by Point Guard

06.09.08 | Winners Forfeit Prizes!!!

Posted in Uncategorized by Point Guard

Please make sure you have the correct contact information listed with us. You can check it by logging into the website and clicking on “My Account” on the top left.

People do win and don’t get their prizes sometimes because of wrong or missing contact information. This month our first place winner Katy Ritchie got her $1,000 but our first and second runner ups didn’t give us accurate information and so they both forfeited their iTunes Gift Certificates. We tried to reach them but couldn’t get them. That’s really too bad since they went to the trouble to earn points and enter the May College Scholarship.

Don’t let it happen to you. Prizes are increasing as are the number of winners every month. Sooner or later it could be you.

Oh and sign up as a friend on my MySpace page for special point codes. http://www.myspace.com/pointsteam

05.28.08 | Domino’s, tanning and shopping: OH MY!

Posted in Uncategorized by Sally Scholar

Freshman year of college was a completely new and foreign experience. Aside from having the ability to do virtually whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted, I actually had responsibilities. No one made sure I did my homework, or even went to class for that matter. And laundry certainly didn’t wash itself. At first I had so much free time I didn’t know what to do with myself. But soon enough I felt like I had zero time. Not even enough to sleep. All of those things just took some getting used to, well, maybe a lot of getting used to. But eventually I learned to get by, and take care of myself and all of my responsibilities- or at least most of them.

I am not quite sure where it started: whether it was the online shopping, the countless nights of ordering Domino’s, the tanning packages or the infamous trips to BK and Panera Bread, I do not know. But before I knew it, I had a negative balance in my account after the first half of the semester. I had received a scholarship to pay for my books, so this debt did not even include my expensive schoolbooks! Now you are probably thinking, what was the initial balance? Well friends, I went into first semester of freshman year with $2,000.

The first thing you must understand, especially if you have not experienced freshman year of college yet, is the amount of money you spend depends on two things: your school, and how well (or how awful) you are at managing your finances. The bad part is, my school has a suburban campus, and we never really go into a city or to the bars. Everything you need is pretty much on campus, except for a few fraternity houses. Anyways, the depletion of my funds was entirely due to my obliviousness. I put no thought into how many times we ordered Domino’s, how much I was spending on online clothes stores, or how much those monthly tanning packages really were. Sure, there is no harm in spending money, it’s a lot of fun and you can get some great stuff! The harm comes from carelessly spending money. The little things add up. For me, they added up to $2,000 in 5 weeks.

So if you are in charge of your own money in college, a word from the wise: Keep track of your balance. Don’t make the same mistake I did. It was stressful for me because I did not have online banking, and had to physically go home (stressful for my parents) to rejuvenate my account. What’s worse was that I had to take out the money I saved for second semester and use it for the second half of my first semester. This meant I had to be EXTRA careful during second semester, and I didn’t have as much money to spend on things I actually needed, like books! So, do yourself and your parents a favor by being smart with your money, and always keeping track of your finances. Thanks for reading! You deserve a code. Here it is: “MODINERO”

Yours truly,

05.28.08 | Allow me to introduce myself… I’m Sally Scholar!

Posted in Uncategorized by Sally Scholar

Hey everyone! I\'m Sally Scholar.

Hi everyone at ScholarshipPoints.com! My  name is Sally Scholar! I am here not only to mediate the feuds between Professor Plastic and Point Guard, but to provide you with more opportunities to win scholarships!

I’d say I’m your typical college girl… I looove shopping! But, as you will soon learn in my next blog, I no longer shop online for clothes :(. Instead, I spend my time shopping online for scholarships, which led me to discover www.scholarshippoints.com. When I am not visiting ScholarshipPoints.com, you can usually find me on my Facebook or Myspace pages. If I am not there, then I am most likely cruising the streets in my pink Jeep Wrangler with my cat. My cat’s name is Dinero, so who couldn’t love him?! Besides loving my cat, I LOVE the color pink, as you probably could tell from my car.

Well, I think that is all you need to know for now. Keep a lookout for my blog posts, there just may be a code hiding in there for you……

Happy point hunting!

04.30.08 | It’s raining points – hallelujah!

Posted in Uncategorized by Professor Plastic

We’re giving away scholarship points like candy these days! Granted candy may taste better, but at least scholarship points won’t go to your hips and can be used to increase your chances of winning money!!! Then with your $1,000 scholarship that will free up some cash for you to invest in a few Hershey, Snickers, and Kit Kat bars. See how it all comes full circle? Let’s look at that equation; SP = $ = C

It’s really so easy to scoop up points, like ice cream from a big delicious tub. I could go for some Oreo Cookie ice cream right now actually. Perhaps I should start writing my blogs after lunch.

For a list of all point earning opportunities you can visit http://www.scholarshippoints.com/scholarship-contests/

This is no trick; it is a mighty nice treat!

04.24.08 | Professor Plastic vs. Point Guard

Posted in Uncategorized by Professor Plastic

poindexter

Hello everyone! I am the latest forum moderator, and the complete antitheses of Mr. Point Guard I’m happy to report. This dictatorship has now become a democracy.

Let’s breakdown some key differences between the two of us.

PG: Mr. Point Guard rides a motorcycle, as he previously revealed, but what he failed to mention is that it costs him twenty-five cents per ride. That’s right; you can find Mr. Point Guard at your local Walmart on Friday nights with a handful of quarters. Rumor has it he fell off last week. Light weight.

PP: I drive an SUV. Sure, it costs a few bucks in gasoline, but I love looking down on the world. I feel very authoritative. Some say I purchased a large SUV because I have little man’s complex, but that’s simply not true. I can totally reach the pedal all by myself.

Advantage: Professor Plastic

PG: Has a beautiful Bichon dog named Rudy. I love animals so I can’t fault him for that one, but that name conjures up images from the movie Rudy. Remember how Rudy painstakingly couldn’t get into Notre Dame? We suffered with each rejection letter year after year. Is this some kind of subliminal message you’re sending the children PG? A message of failure and torment?

PP: I have a Greyhound named Cranberry Road; a sophisticated name for a sophisticated animal. Cranberry Road is actually his program name. He raced professionally for three years in the northeast and embarrassed the competition. Wanna race Rudy?

Advantage: Professor Plastic’s Dog

So the choice is yours. You can hang out with Professor Plastic and cruise the town in luxury SUV style with his champion dog, or you can spend your Friday night riding the carousel at Walmart while being recruited by Troop 54 to help sell Girl Scout Cookies.

03.12.08 | Who is Point Guard?

Posted in Uncategorized by Point Guard

I’m Point Guard. I  do most of the management of www.ScholarshipPoints.com, the best free college scholarship site around, at least that’s what we strive for. I also do lots of the management for a few other site you might care about such as www.StudentPlatinum.com which provides student credit cards, credit card help and credit education. Then there is also www.HowToGetIn.com which is a great site for people not yet in college, its got a really good school search which we are working on improving all the time.

I myself went to school at the University of Maine at Orono and got a degree in Education so I like to work on these educational sites and help students get into college and pay for it! Drop me a line and say hello sometime. The best way is in the forum: http://forum.scholarshippoints.com. I live just outside of Boston, have a ferocious Bichon named Rudy (the underdog) and play sports and ride motorcycles when I’m not running these sites.

03.12.08 | Convert your play money into real money.

Posted in Uncategorized by Point Guard

Welcome to the premier post of the greatest free college scholarship blog ever! I’m Point Guard and I currently do most of the management for the site: www.ScholarshipPoints.com. If you don’t know, www.ScholarshipPoints.com is a free scholarship program where high school, college and graduate students register with us and then do different things online to earn points. Points can then be converted to entries into various scholarships. The reason its so cool is that it costs you nothing to sign-up and earn points, points become much like play money, the play money buys entries which are sort of like lottery tickets and if you win, well that is real money. Where else can you convert your play money into real money?
